The Air Jordan 4 “UNC” is an April 2021 colorway of Michael Jordan’s fourth signature shoe that honors Michael’s alma mater, the University of North Carolina. The first-ever Jordan 4 in a “UNC” makeup, this collegiate design follows previous Air Jordans to employ the popular theme—the Air Jordan 3 “UNC” and the Women’s Air Jordan 1 Mid “UNC” from 2020. Jordan Brand adds several athletic inspired touches to the look, including adding a “removable” name tag to the nylon Jumpman branding on the suede tongue in reference to the product tag on the bottom of basketball jerseys. The upper is constructed from supple University Blue suede, save for the tongue and mid-panel which feature tonal mesh detailing. Black plastic lace holders appear on the throat and collar and the plastic “Wings” tabs are given a decidedly “Cement” inspired look. The classic “Cement” detailing also appears on the back of the shoe with black Jumpman branding and on the mudguard. A small visible Air unit in the heel completes the look.
